Steer clear from this store! The salesman, Jontavius Branch, that helped me is a very calculated con artist. The type that would steel your wallet and then help you look for it! Very sneaky man! I went into the store to purchase a new phone and he looked me in the eyes and lied to my face just to make his sale! As a consumer, you expect honesty and high integrity from a company like AT&T. After multiple attempts at convincing me I would be better off adding extra lines on my plan (it’s just my husband and I - why do we need to add extra lines), upping my data to unlimited (we only use around 4 GB per month), trying to get me to add Direct TV and home internet, he finally tried to sell accessories for the phone that I went in the store to purchase. I told him that I would find a phone case online rather than purchase one at the store. At that point, he said that if I purchase one in the store, that he would give me 40% off a case. I decided that it was a good deal so I found a case and screen protector. I looked him in the eyes again and said, “So you are going to give me 40% off each of these?” He said, “yes” which ended up being a lie. He proceeded to lie once again and tell me that the taxes on the phone were going to be around $120. I told him that the woman “Jessica” on ATT’s online chat told me taxes should be somewhere around $80. He said that is for the phone with less GB and you are getting the 250 GB phone so it will be around $120. When he checked me out using his tablet, he first said that the total cost would be around $190 something. I asked him if the taxes ended up being $120 like he estimated and he said yes. He then said wait let me apply your 40% discount. After he “applied” my discount he said I owed 166.10 as he handed me a tablet with a line for me to sign. The charges were not visable, just the line for me to sign. I asked him to see a breakdown of the charges and he said that once I sign it, he would give me a print out. He sent me on my way, and when I got home and sat down to add the charge to my bank ledger, I noticed that he charged me full price for the case and the glass protector and also lied about the taxes. The taxes were indeed what the other woman told me they would be (in the $80 range). He lied about my taxes so that he could charge me full price for a case - he didn’t expect me to buy a screen protector as well so when he rang me up, he had to tell me it was going to be $190 and then act like he applied my discount. I contacted ATT customer service as soon as I got home to explain the situation and the woman, Kesha, whom I spoke with was very helpful. She contacted the store and spoke to Jontavius and he lied to her as well. He said that he told me I would get 20% off 3 accessories if bought together - I never would have agreed to that because you can get much better deals on Amazon. She filed a complaint against him and advised that I go into the store and speak to a manager to have the situation resolved. When I returned to the store, I spoke with the manager Jared. He listened to my concern, but the first thing he said to me was, “I have never received any complaints of something like this happening”. Clearly he thought I conjured up the entire thing! At that point he told me the best he could do was give me 20% off. He never apologized for me being given misinformation. I was more upset over the way in which I was taken advantage of rather than the $32 difference. I went in to let management know the type of employee they have representing their store. For Jontavius to lie that easily to a customer should be alarming to management especially since he has access to their cash drawer. Overall, the situation was very unsettling, and I will never give that store my business again. I will make sure to let everyone know that I can to prevent others from falling into their deciet. It is such a shame because I have been a loyal AT&T customer for many years. All of my other dealings with the company have been great; I recommend to just find a different store.
Great customer service every time. I don't always love AT&T, who really does, but every single CSR that I've dealt with here has gone above and beyond. (Even when I'm grumpy.) Thanks, guys.
If I could give zero stars I would. Awful experience. Just horrible. From the wait to the rude "gentleman" that I had to deal with. It's not my responsibility to do his job for him. I'll never be back to the Hickory location. Conover authorized retailer experience 1000% better than this store. Go to Conover if you want friendly and helpful customer service.
This is the slowest staff I have ever encountered. I needed a simple SIM card swap. New phone, different size card. A simple 3 minute job at most. Not only did they ignore is after taking our name, it took almost an hour and a half to get someone to help us. Half the time the staff stood around chatting with each other about nonsense instead of helping people on the waiting list. And I know this because they were doing it within earshot. If there was anything less than 1 star, this place wouldn't even deserve that.
Sit up my new pad for my nice guy let my ask all the ? I wanted
