First visit, so far nice people, groomer seems to know her animals very well.
They get the 3 at least because their selection is good for people who DO know how to take of their pets properly.
I can't go any higher than a 3 on a place that allows someone to walk out with a betta, a half-gallon box, and a fake plant and have them think that's a good setup for that fish. I realize the big pet stores only care about making a buck so I'm not surprised, but I sure don't have to be happy about it.
They tend to have everything I need, which ideally is great! But sometimes their supply of live crickets leave me rather concerned as they often have additional insects in their container. I've often bought everything from them so their level of convience and placement is perfect. Their rewards program is also really handy as it can mean saving on a box of crickets or some dog food since I tend to buy all this periodically enough.
Animals are not ornaments; don't treat them that way. When a customer is getting something you know would be detrimental to the animal, guide them in the right direction.
Unless, of course, the employees themselves don't know any better and that's even scarier.
Very nice store, variety of products. Similar to Petco, little smaller. Mgr was friendly and attentive, knowledgeable about products.
Today, I went to Petco to give custody of my two dear Guinea Pig's to them, since we are moving to a place where we can't have animals. I was greeted by a nice individual, whom then went and got Jolene. Jolene, or "Jo" as the employees were referring to her as, instantly started acting like I was inconvenience to her and the rest of the Petco organization. She first criticized me for the way I transported them into the store. I had them in a medium sized pet box that we had obtained from the previous owners who had gotten to box from Petsmart. I advised her that I preferred to carry them that way so that they weren't sliding around during the car ride in their open cage. Afterwards, she looked at the box and asked me "Why didn't you go back to Petsmart" in a snarky tone. Again, I advised her that the box was given to us by the previous owners and that I use that as means of transportation for them. After a few huffs and puffs and nasty looks, she told me that she would take them IF I had a cage, which I did. Why would I only bring the Guinea Pigs? As I was heading back out to the car, she was mumbling under her breath. Upon return, several employees had gotten the girls out and were holding them and loving on them, which was okay. Back to Jolene, she was writing on the form for surrender, asked me my names, and their ages. I tried to explain to her that they could not be separated since they have been together for 2+ years, and she wasn't having it, so I explained it to an employee who in return promised me that they would be taken care of. After signing, she shooed me away and said "You're done." I attempted to say one last goodbye to my babies, but with the looks I was receiving, I felt very unwelcome. Jolene is not fit to work in a family environment such as that. She should be ashamed of the way she treated me, and Petco should be ashamed at the people they put in authority positions. I will not be giving them another dollar. In fact, I will take Jolene's advice and "take my business to Petsmart"
