Dr. Sykes is an amazing doctor and his staff is very helpful.
The lady at the check out counter, who works with insurance every day, refused to go through the procedure codes with me. The Affordable Care Act lays out easy-to-follow requirements for what is covered under Preventive Care for every insurance policy, and these medical workers should know it better than anyone. I am in great health and have no symptoms of any illness. The fact that the doctor purposely ordered more tests than necessary makes me hesitant to trust them in the future. I will not be going back.
I went to Catawba Valley Family Medicine for my annual preventive exam that is 100% covered by my insurance, BCBS. I had ONE SINGLE REQUEST - only do the tests covered by the preventive care portion of my insurance. They either did not understand, or worse – did not care. During my visit, I made sure everyone I had contact with was aware of this request. Yesterday, I received a bill with multiple lab tests that aren’t covered under preventive care, which means I have to pay out of pocket.
Returned to CVFM being away since my previous doctor was there. Had a great experience - the receptionist was very nice and Adam was very cordial and informative. The lab experience was great as well. Have no complaints and I despise going to the doctor. Very quick in and out time also. In comparison, my previous doctor had a wait time of easily 2 hours before being called back and then another hour before the doctor would see you.
I would certainly NOT recommend this place to anyone. The staff lacks of professional knowledge and is unwilling to help.
The comment from Michaela Fan was really out of line. I go to this office and in fact the staff is most helpful. I have always gotten my codes, copies of the visit and what transpired. They are very kind and supportive. Adam Benfield is a great Physicians Assistant, Sandy is a great staff member, the nurse is well educated, the lab is on point! This girl is out of line with her remark and must have been in a bad mood when she went there. I am greatful for such a good Dr. and staff, there are few these days
